Latest Updates from Our Project:

A visual composition of how big this is!
over 8 years ago – Fri, Nov 13, 2015 at 03:05:40 PM

Hello,

We are on the last week and it goes so fast! :O
We decided to change the project image to David's interpretation of Marx Brothers Cabin. You know, we cannot stay still ;)

Do you recognize who's there?

Mmmm... also wanted to remind you that ONE LUCKY BACKER has the opportunity to appear on this scene. David will do a portrait of your, or the person of your choice, and place it in the book. Moreover you'll receive your portrait b/w + colored and printed in a giclée.

In only 29 days we received amazing support... and when we say 'amazing', we mean A LOT! But since it is not possible to count it... We prepared a visual composition to realize HOW BIG THIS IS!

Each of you represents a book. See how many we are!

We must admit that we didn't include the add-ons here. We were getting crazy just by looking at the screen ;)

And last but not least... I want to mention a colleague form here. He is a repeat creator and you probably bumped into one of his projects in the past, because he has done quite a lot. Jeremy presents the sequel of his previous and successful sci-fi graphic novel Metal Made Flesh. It is filled with any kind of creature you can imagine: mobsters, assassins, cyborgs and low life. He has a fondness for the blue color that I love :) Take a look at his graphic novel - Metal Made Flesh 2 !

Talk to you soon!

Reward Spotlight - Giclée prints & Certificates of Authenticity
over 8 years ago – Fri, Nov 13, 2015 at 03:04:57 PM

Hello fellows!

Today we wanted to do a recap of beautiful rewards included on different level pledges.

Firstly, we'd like to remind you about the beautiful giclée prints. For those who already received some of our prints from previous projects... we are working now with another printer which is
A M A Z I N G ! Before the quality was very good, but now it is just excellent! So happy with this!

Carmesina and brushes:

This giclée is included in all the pledges that contain the physical book (from €45), and you'll receive it signed by David G. Forés.

 Depths:

The giclée prints 'Depths' is included with 'The Journey' slipcased edition of Inspiration Dormant and it will be limited, numbered and signed by David.

We have also been working on the Certificate of Authenticity (CA) and wanted to share a bit the process with you. We include the CA with every copy of the book as certification of the limited edition.

Moreover, we try to make it also beautiful so you can use it as a bookmark, or just to enjoy it!  We love making books, but we also care about all the surrounding pieces as part of the project, and the beauty of it as a whole :)

For the 'Back to colors' Hardcover Edition we were picturing a white certificate, maybe with a pearl finished paper.

And for 'The Journey' Slipcased Edition we thought about including this beautiful illustration of Carmesina and the musas. We are talking with the printer, and we may include a golden detailing on it...

Finally I discovered a project that I really liked! It is already funded and on the last hours on Kickstarter. Seven stories by Martin Simpson, called Misc Anthology. I really like his artwork regarding the light effects and the color. Have a look at it and support this first time creator :) Here's a sample of a page:

We are on our last days. We are confident that we will make it, but just as a final request for today:

Remember to tell your friends about this project, share it on social media, spread the word wherever you go... so we can make this inspiring beauty a reality!

Thank you so much for being on board,
David and The Play Attitude team

Some musas and Scrapbooking delights
over 8 years ago – Fri, Nov 13, 2015 at 03:02:47 PM

Hello everybody,

We are about to enter the last week on Kickstarter. There is still a bit to reach the funding goal, but we are confident that all the work we have done, also with your help, will result in reaching the necessary funding. That's how it should to be in such a wonderful campaign with this amazing support!

Thank you so much for being on board and making this journey, once again, something we will never forget!

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:

We first thought on offering the PDF of the book as a stretch goal. Since we still want to add a stretch goal to improve the book, and we don't have much time left, we decided just TO ADD THE PDF OF THE BOOK AS A BONUS for every pledge which includes the physical book (+45€). Hope you like the idea!

This illustration is from the book, and it captures the moment when Carmesina is trying to keep the inspiration with her. I think these musas by David are absolutely cute and beautiful!

As we already told you Inspiration Dormant was such an important book for Silvia, the writer. If you don't know why, you can check Update #8 :)

Silvia is a creative person in all senses, and very detail orientated. She likes any creative activity.... you can find her writing tales, dancing Bollywood or making scrapbook and posting on her blog Mares de papel. Here you have a few of her beautiful creations:

She wanted to offer something special to you, to those fellow supporters who understand that Inspiration Dormant is more than a book, but a journey deep inside ourselves to recover inspiration, to overcome fears, to reflect about what we are, what we feel and what we want. She wanted to offer you a little detail... and here it goes:

A HANDMADE GREETING CARD

Based on the musa by David G. Forés. This beautiful detail will be included in all THE JOURNEY (DEDICATED) - also the early birds :)

The cover of the card displays the musa, which will be printed in cream heavy-weight paper. This is only a mockup.

Inside you will find a dedication from Silvia G. Guirado, with some inspiring words that will introduce you to the reading <3

Where you thinking about giving Inspiration Dormant to a friend, daughter, your wife, yourself? That's a perfect detail along with an inspiring book, don't you think so?

Moreover we already told you about a beautiful tale called The absence.
We are offering it in PDF to those who are sharing the project, and thus helping us to spread the word. It is also included in the Sketchbook illustrated by David G. Forés and....

THE HANDMADE SCRAP ALBUM OF 'THE ABSENCE'

This handmade album contains the tale The Absence handwritten by Silvia and decorated with scrapbooking!

This is absolutely awesome, here a few more pictures:

We decided to create an extra reward which includes the original drawing + this handmade album for a 540€ pledge (only 1 available).
That's a really special reward, and it is sure to be something unique.

And finally and to end up with this collection of beauties, I wanted to tell you about another project happening on Kickstarter. The story reminded me a bit of Carmesina. Torchlight Lullaby is a fantasy/adventure story about a little girl named Ella that's forced to face her greatest fears when she becomes trapped in her dreams. What I liked about this tale for children is the freshness of the drawings. It is the first project from Ryan, and there are less than 47 hours to go.

Thank you so much for being here supporting this project that is so special for us.

Reward Spotlight: 52-Page Sketchbook + A great collaboration with Pandemonium
over 8 years ago – Sun, Nov 08, 2015 at 02:26:18 PM

Hello everybody!

So happy that we finally hit the 40K. Now it is true that it seems to be on its way to be funded soon! We cannot wait to see how this flows in the last days of the campaign. These are actually our favorite days... so excited!

First I'd like to reveal another curiosity from the book...

#4. Carmesina’s journey around the world includes marvelous places such as India, Florence (Italy) or Paris (France), among others.

All of them left a mark on Silvia, and that’s why she decided to include them.
Have you ever been there? If not, no worries, that's the good thing about fantasy and imagination.. it leads you wherever you wanna go ;)

And one that is really special...

The muse
The muse

One of the things I like the most about Kickstarter is that one gets to know with amazing people that have great projects. Sometimes, like it happened with this muse, you can even setup a collaboration, and this is so amazing! :)

We got in contact a while ago because they knew our previous projects. They told me about the project they were planning to launch on Kickstarter and the fantasy survival horror tabletop game they created. Pandemonium gathers a boundless imaginary of fantastic creatures. I liked the game, and they liked my muse. We then decided that one of the cards of the game will feature the muse. Here you have a preview. I don't think is the last layout, but it looks good. Don't you think so?

They had a bunch of followers already and the campaign is going really well. They also post many updates with more information about the project, which I love!

Here's the project if you'd like to have a look at it! Recommended!

Hope you liked it and let's keep eyes open on this weekend! It's only 11 days to go and still a lot of work to do.

BTW, thank you so much for sharing the project and spreading the word. Without your help this wouldn't have been possible. Thanks, thanks, and thanks, once again!

Inspiration Dormant: 13 chapters / 13 colors
over 8 years ago – Fri, Nov 06, 2015 at 05:11:47 AM

Hello everybody,

First of all we wanted to let you know that we've been thinking a lot. The project is going a bit slower than expected and we decided to do something to change it! We really want this to happen and we'll do our best! :)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We’re giving away a dose of inspiration free to anyone who shares this project on social media! Because we do it better together!

Get a collection of wallpapers + the inspiring tale 'The Absence' in PDF at the close of the campaign, just by sending a note with a screenshot or link to your social share to [email protected]

TELL YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT IT <3

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On the last update we started a section called '10 things you should now about the book' and revealed the first curiosity:

#1. The essence of Inspiration Dormant was a tribute to Michael Ende.

Now it's the time to reveal two more curiosities because they are related one to the other... so here it goes:

#2 Inspiration Dormant has 13 chapters in purpose.

The number 13 is considered an unlucky number in some countries. For those who don't know much about us we have to tell you that in the world of tales bad luck doesn't exist and we say loud and clear: we don't believe in bad luck! ;) It is also a little tribute to the real Black Cat that inspired this story.

Don't you think Play is lovely? :)

#3 The title of every chapter is the name of a color

And they are not chosen randomly. Silvia researched about the meaning of every color, so consider this when reading it. As an example, violet relates to transformation, and indigo is associated with generosity and intuition. ;)

Every title is accompanied with a little drawing in a Sketchy style ;) Here you have them:

 Pssssttt....

Have you noticed that there is only a slight difference in the illustration for the first and last chapter?

We've been talking about colors and on a different matter we go now to... black and white! These days we've been talking with Kate, creator of The Spark Planner. We are cross promoting each other hoping to spread the word about each other's projects. She defines the planner as a proven goal-setting, planning, and productivity system for superstars. Check the project here.

Hope you liked this update with some more information about the book.

Stay tuned... we still have many things to share with you! :)
